Training at No Problem Raceway (9 Apr 2010)

Temperature 78F Dry

"No Problem Raceway" is a track about 90 miles from New Orleans.  I needed more seat time  and to ride check the bike because of a few adjustments I made to my quick shifter and suspension.  Unless you drag race you may not have heard of No Problem.  It's an NHRA drag strip and happens to have a small road course.  I've heard the money maker is the drag strip.  with that being said, the 1.8 mile 14 turn road course is a little to be desired.  The pavement is in need of re-surfacing and more run-off in some sections would be a good thing.  However, once you find the perfect line the track is adequate for race training but not racing at and sometimes over the limit. However, the GOOD NEWS is they have started ground breaking for a new 2.2-mile 12 turn state of the art road course, epected to be complete in the Fall of 2011.  That's right I said it, we (Lousianians) have plans for 2 new road courses.  One in New Orleans and No Problem in Belle Rose.  I saw the lay-out and it's going to be NICE!  No elevation changes but very technical turns, should be very interesting.  Stay tuned for MORE details very soon.

TRAINING:

I arrive at the track at 1045.  I missed the 1st turn but they took care of me.  Thanks Phil.....I rode the course once last year so I needed a few sighting laps to get my bearings.  The first round I rode about half speed to find the right lines.  The next session i felt a little more comfortable and realized my quick shifter was working perfect.  I needed to up the pace to see how the rear was feeling on the gas.  I followed Steve on a Duc 848 to see how he negotiated the chicane, very nicely so he "learned me" as we say in Texas.  During lunch I made a few more adjustments to the rear.  The rear felt better getting on the gas coming out of slow corners but it still shreds.  I'll need to get with the Ohlin’s Techs to help me with this one.   After 5 turns I was tired but I left No Problem running a respectable 1:19.2, I was told the lap record is 1:12.8 WoW!

My next training will be at Barbers on the 24/25 Apr with NESBA
